In the article “Rise and Inglorious Fall of MySpace” Gillette explains on what went wrong with MySpace to a point by explaining that there was, “Mismanagement, a flawed merger, and countless strategic blunders”. Another major problem that occurs is that MySpace gave too much freedom to the users to post anything and everything they want. The user had almost all control over how they wanted their page to look. If you look at Facebook, you can see that everyone’s ‘profile page’ looks exactly the same and that is because Facebook wants to have control over the users and as well as not allow advertisement that can be crude or offensive to parents who want to keep their children safe. The main concern here is that the minimum age requirement for MySpace is thirteen years, and if all these advertisements show images that children should not be seeing, then the parents will find out and will close their children’s accounts, making sure they don’t ever sign up again for MySpace. As for the spam, if a child sees a picture, for an example of Spongebob, they might click on it and it could cause spam or even worse it could install a virus into the computer corrupting it. So for the most part the author has pin pointed the major and minor flaws of MySpace.

2) The three areas that MySpace can focus on to get new users or old users back is as follows
a. They have to rebuild their business plan. They have to look at what makes the users happy and not just put up the website to get more profit. I’m sure they have enough resources and money to shutdown MySpace temporarily, but still keeping user information, to start from scratch and rebuild the entire website. By doing this, it will attract people the same way it once did long ago.
b. The second aspect after a business plan would have to be to completely get rid of all the advertisements and just keep the ones that for sure will not give out any spam. The way Facebook has done it is that...
