Everyone is born with different experiences growing up, and that’s what makes each person different. In the story, “August 2002: Night Meeting,” Ray Bradbury shows the reader how two completely different species of life can be similar. Not only is time and communication the major conflicts in the story, but there is also a hidden message of reality that Bradbury is showing the reader. It is obvious that the only way people know each other and get to know each other is by simply communicating. Life is too short not to enjoy it, and communicating with someone will always be for the better. Even though Tomás Gomez has a hard time communicating with the alien Muhe Ca, both wish each other the best of luck on their upcoming journeys, hoping to one day meet again.
Tomás Gomez appreciates every moment and thinks about everything while on his journey. Questions fill his mind, “What does time sound like?” or “ What does time look like?” (179). Bradbury shows the reader to always enjoy the time with another person even though they are different. Time goes by fast and should be taken in by appreciating every moment. Take time to think and clear the mind because it will be worth it.
