Telepathy Essay

763 words - 4 pages

I started out by asking my uncle to step into the quietest room in the house. I also asked that everyone else in the house try to stay as quiet as possible. In order to try and achieve what needed to be achieved I needed complete silence. I also didn’t want him knowing what I was doing so that way I could know if what I was doing was real. So he had no reason to be influenced. Before hand, I had set up two chairs in the room facing back to back. I didn’t know why having the chairs facing back to back would help but I felt it to be necessary. Before we got seated I started out by asking simple questions like “How was your day?” and “How are you feeling?” in an attempt to build a better rapport for the experiment to come. I then told him to take a seat and to clear his mind. I then explained to him that I needed him to answer as quickly as possible when I asked him the next question. I told him to respond instinctively. Whatever came into ...view middle of the document...

I found this to be very interesting. What I found even more interesting was the fact that I said nothing about what I was going to be doing with him except for the fact that I was going to conduct an experiment. He then asked me if that was the number that I had been thinking of and I confirmed. He was very skeptical of my answer. He said there was no way that I sent him a message from my brain to his. I then had him go into another room and sit in another chair that I had previously set up. I told him we would be doing something along the same lines with a little twist. Earlier in the day I had sat by myself, mind cleared and focused, and thought hard about a color for a total of 2 minutes. Green, pink, red, and orange flew through my brain over and over but red stuck out like a sore thumb. I then wrote that color down on a slip of paper, folded it up and placed it in front of the chair I had set up. After giving my uncle a timer, I asked him to sit in the chair for two minutes and think about a color. I expressed that after the two minutes were up, to open the slip of paper and tell me what he thought. After the two minutes my uncle came out of the room with wide eyes. I asked him what he thought and he described what he thought with a little more than one expletive. He couldn’t believe what had just happened and honestly, neither could i. in the beginning stages of this experiment I thought it all to be fun and games. This experiment has showed me that I may have some sort of extra-sensory ability. If I do, I would like to look more into myself and see if what I have is real. I would also like to conduct a few more experiments to make sure this one experiment wasn’t just coincidence. This experiment, in conclusion, has showed me that extra-sensory perception could be a reality. Unfortunately, I did not gather enough information from the one experiment to conclude that extra-sensory perception is, for a fact, reality. I have also concluded that this study is not large enough to stem a generalization from. I feel I would need a lot more subjects and a lot more factors involved to conclude a generalization of e.s.p. in any aspect. I can’t say that I am a believer but I can say that one day I may come across something that makes me a believer and not just a skeptic.
