I have been extended the reward of being employed for Yellow Freight Company (YRC), for over 17 years. YRC Freight is a subsidiary of YRC Worldwide Inc., a Fortune 500 company and one of the internationally. With headquarters in Overland Park, Kan., YRC Worldwide employs 55,000 people. I have witnessed many company changes. Yellow Freight was established in 1924. One of the most remarkable displays of our company is our 18 wheelers that are painted in a bright orange color. Prior to the 21 Century YRC operated as most of the nationwide freight companies with log paper trails. Currently, the entire company is utilizing to Information Technology systems that has changed many aspects of improvement. These two systems are the Citrix System (which was custom made for Yellow Freight Company, and the Mobile Data Terminal System (which is custom made for Yellow Freight Company) to process the rapid growing company. With these two Information Technology systems in place rewards the company with overall high profit growths, employee data documenting, and faster customer service in every aspect. In times past my day at work would begin by being verified by a physical Yellow Freight Guard who verified by a physical identification card. Every Yellow Freight terminal is operated as a secured and controlled workplace. Currently, there is no Yellow Freight Guard at the gate entrance. Due to our new system my badge has a computer chip that unlocks and allow me to enter the terminal 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, I no longer have to hurry to the employee room to physically clock in, as I entered the gate I am automatically clocked into work. The log paper trails have been replaced with a hand held scanner which allow me to process large, medium, small, or damaged freight. These...
