Researching the fluctuation with attendance levels at major league baseball games requires identification of the quantifiable measurements necessary to identify the variances between one organization and other. By using the quantifiable measurements, it enables understanding the differences of attendance levels at specific games. The quantifiable measurements analyzed during this process include team, league, age of stadium, stadium size, the surface used in the stadium, players’ salaries, team performance, attendance, batting average, ERA, home runs, errors, and stolen bases, and the average player’s salary during the last 17 years.
Is it that the more paid in salaries correlates to higher attendance? The New York Yankees have the highest level of attendance while Kansas has the lowest level of attendance. New York also pays the most in salaries of any organization, making their games more exciting to attend. These measurements allow one to identify variances in the games and determine the true factors that cause the difference in the attendance. Of course, higher paid players are more desirable to watch but they are paid more for their ability, so it could be that the higher the salary paid, is the more the organization wins. However, it isn’t that the New York Yankee’s had the most wins. It is true, however, that the more in attendance at the games influences the number of wins the organization obtains.
