Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony; a Commemoration of Rugby’s Origin
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am greatly honored for being part of this colorful event where history will be made. We are all here to celebrate the opening ceremony of this beautiful landmark in world rugby. We have waited four years, but now we are just one hour away from the kickoff of the first match of the 2015 Rugby world cup in our iconic Twickenham stadium at the heart of England, the beautiful city of London. Wow, this is beautiful; I am standing in front of 81000 rugby fans, the biggest rugby stadium on earth. I assure every rugby fan that this world cup will offer breathtaking moments that will live in us forever. Heroes will be born, rivalries will emerge all in the name of glory, but only ...view middle of the document...

I urge you the fans to come out in numbers and show support to this players. Without the fans, this event would not even have taken place. There is no need to worry about transport as all cities hosting rugby matches have committed on improving transport infrastructure. Accommodation services have also been improved and we are taking necessary precautions to ensure that tourists will not be exploited.I remind you that this event is not only a sporting event but a chance to see and experience new cultures and diversity. Everyone is well aware of the New Zealand ‘haka dance’ performed by the all blacks team before each match. This is a traditional war cry, dance or challenge from the Maori people (Poelman, 9). Rugby is enlightening people to honor indigenous cultures.I also encourage the fans to refrain from indulging in violent conduct towards other fans. Remember they are winners and losers in a game; losses are part of life and go a long way in bearing a teaching moment on us. Security for all the fans is something we have hugely invested in and thus you do not have to worry about your safety.
Fans you have already heardfrom the media that this event is expected to raise around £1 billion ($1.5 billion). We should not place economic value over the love and passion of this game. Do not forget that the rugby world cup has provided us with iconic moments and drama like great comebacks when France won 43-31 against New Zealand in the 1999 world cup and the legendary Jonah Lomuone-man demolition of England with 4 tries in 1995. (Lomu,15)
I wish you a wonderful world cup with lots of entertaining moments. I am delighted to officially declare the 2015 rugby world cup open.
            Thank you!”
