Student Survival Guide
There are many different ways that I can be successful throughout my journey with Distant Learning. I have chosen this route because dedicating my time to a nearby college means taking away from my children’s needs. There are many people out there that don’t take the time to teach their children the basics but my almost three year knows her ABC’s, numbers to twenty, a variety of animals and can write some letters. I feel that these past nine weeks have taught me to stay motivated so I can complete my degree.
It has taken some time to adapt to taking classes online but it’s always good to challenge yourself with ...view middle of the document...
I personally like to read, listen, and also view things. Having these tools available has helped me learn the way I’m used to. Now I’m in a position where it’s easier to keep my attitude positive. Being positive is what leads you to succeed, and this is what I need to do.
Since starting classes with University of Phoenix ( Axia College) I never understood or really paid attention to how important academic honesty has become. I think as long as the student stays on top of reading over the materials for the week and keeping up with the assignments along with discussions questions then they should be fine. I also feel that staying in contact with the instructor when struggling with assignments will not lead to academic dishonesty. Plagiarism has become well known the past few years because some students feel like their being pressured way too much by their parents. Also that they may not put enough time and effort into reading and learning to complete the assignments effectively so they feel that copying another’s work will be the easy way out. Thinking back it’s really not because they can be jeopardizing their future. When you plagiarize there are consequences like dismissal from school and sometimes the student may even get away with counseling. Making sure you stay on top of assignments, ask for help and make use out of the technological tools that are available is going to help me avoid plagiarism.
Another way to student survival is setting goals. I have goals that I plan on achieving
whether they are short term or long term. I believe that keeping yourself motivated
through your journey of short term goals will also lead to achieving the long term goals
without struggling as much. I am still a firm believer of writing things down so you have
something to look over. Making sure you get to achieve the goals that you have set in a
timely matter will also contribute as well. Being able to maintain focus to achieve these
goals are very important. I think taking responsibility for moving forward positively will be
good as well. Also in some instances having a back-up plan will also be beneficial just
in case something comes up along the way. Planning ahead is also going to be a big
help in the end to.
I have also learned that time management is beneficial when trying to succeed.
Managing time to get assignments done throughout the day has relieved a lot of stress. Making sure I set aside time for schoolwork and family is very important. I say this because once I’m able to find a decent job It will be somewhat easier for me to add another priority to the list. Managing time...
