Language is the only way by which we can express our emotions, thoughts, desires, ideas, and feelings. It is a system for communicating ideas and feelings using sounds, gestures, signs or marks. Estimates of the number of languages in the world vary between 5,000 and 7,000 with English being the most popular. English may not be the most spoken language in the world, but it is the official language in a large number of countries. Throughout the world, when people with different languages come together, they commonly use English to communicate whether it might be spoken through physical interactions or putting words together. At home I mainly spoke Urdu with my family and with the outside society including friends and teachers, English was the main subject. In the later years of my life I realized that there were variations or phases of speaking English I had gone through. Urdu was never a problem as the dialect and methods of sentencing never changed through out my life but my English had stages. I had evolved from speaking "broken English" to using correct grammar, vocabulary and sentence structure. When I started elementary school, I had some knowledge of English grammar and word tense but I was just a beginner. I would put together words with verbs and use the wrong tense but at the end of the day my point always came across. I struggled and struggled but the different types of tenses and grammatical issues I was having did not seem to improve.

Reading books and picking up new words to try out was an option but behind it all I still seemed to see myself always pointing at things that I would be referring to and using words like "it, run, me, eat” and signaling the sign of the verb like my dominant hand doing a slicing action over the other indicating the action of "cut". After realizing that even though my friends and peers understood my words and actions, I still lacked the ability to hold a consistent conversation like them. That made me very jealous. I had to figure a way to improve my English and sentence structuring abilities. T.V was a blessing for me.
