The story starts at midnight on the back porch of a house in Chicago. Robert checks up Catherine if she is still waking up and says happy birthday to her. Robert invites Catherine to do some math with him, but Catherine is not interested in that stuff at that moment. Robert is talking about Catherine’s bad life and persuades her stop moping. Finally, When Hal has one nightstand with Catherine, she gives a notebook to him with the development of a unique mathematics theory that Catherine claims that she developed. Hal and Claire do not believe on her, until the truth is disclosed.
This is a wonderful, well-thought out play. The cast consists of only four characters and the plot moves back and forth in time from the present to the past and from dreams to reality. Catherine's father, Robert was one of the most brilliant mathematicians to have ever lived. By the time he was 25 he had changed the mathematics world twice. Then he became mentally sick and his brilliant and beautiful daughter Catherine drops out of school to take care of him. Robert dies, but Catherine has inherited some of his gifts. When I just began reading the story I thought Catherine was crazy. In the end of the story, author proves the notebook is written by Catherine and then I know that she is a genius. In my view, this story is really interesting, when I start reading for this story I could not stop until I finish reading the whole chapter. All of the mystery which I got during the story is clear until I finished reading whole story.
