There are many negative corporate cultures present in the company. These cultures are what led the executive staff to ignore a directive from company president. Knowing this and afraid to give up any power they thought they had,they did nothing. They operated in a culture with no policies and procedures, or consequences for not following a directives. According to Collins (2001) in his book Good to Great, “all companies have a culture, some companies have discipline, but few have a culture of discipline (pg. 31).
This staff lacked personal accountability, work ethic and dismissed the company values. Good management starts at the top and a leader must be effective for anyone to follow them.
The Project Management Office (PMO) should report to the Chief Information Officer (CIO). The responsibilities of the CIO may vary from from the typical IT support to providing insight and management for establishing new processes and procedures. The CIO is a crucial
part of the success of many projects in todays corporate world. The CIO may also be the person to attend committee meetings, town hall meetings and forums to discuss the project initiatives taking place within a company. Therefore, the CIO and the PMO work closely together to achieve success. The CIO brings executive support to the PMO.
