PLASTIC BAG SHOULD BE BANNED
WHAT IS PLASTIC BAG?
Plastic bag is used to carry item especially from store to home. Most of the time plastic bag is used for storage and trash in common. Plastics are made from non-renewable natural resources such as crude oil, gas and coal.
The impact of plastic bags on the environment is enormous. As of August 2010, between 500 billion and 1 trillion plastic bags are being used each year worldwide. Paying the equivalent of 20 cents tax per plastic bag used in a store has led to a 95 percent decrease in usage. This has been followed by Malaysia recently.
We should be moving forward like many countries such as Sweden that have banned plastic bags. As it is, many stores already provide bags for their customers to purchase and reuse for future visits. Some stores will refund a nickel for every bag customer bring to their store to encourage people to use fewer plastic bags.
Generally, the objective of ban a plastic bag is to avoid environmental damage that has become worse day by day. In order to avoid this issue, some country might use 3R – reduce, reuse, recycle or some country might prefer plastic bag should be banned totally. This will lead dissatisfaction to several parties such as plastic factory where they will incur less income due to less production of plastic bag.
WHY IT SHOULD BE BANNED?
According to manufacturer of reusable bag, each year millions of discarded plastic shopping bags and end up as litter in environment when improperly disposed of. The same properties that have made plastic bags so commercially successful and ubiquitous namely their low weight and resistance to degradation, highly contributed to pollution and take centuries to decompose.
