IKEA is a private Sweden based furniture manufacturing company, which is in making ready to assemble furniture’s like bed, chairs, sofas and other home products. IKEA is one of the biggest furniture retailers in the world and well known because of its innovative and eco friendly furniture interior design. It’s started in 1943 and from the start to till now it always focusing to reduce its operational cost and try to provide best to its customer by continuous product development.

The main objective of the report is to show how much important the operation for the IKEA furniture and how it’s using its operation management strategies and techniques for its business growth.

So in the case of IKEA the main objective of its operation management is to provide competitive advantage in the market place. In IKEA stores we can see through the good operation management they are committed to provide hassle free environment and superior product to its customers. IKEA furniture’s having two sub operation of warehouse and interior design through the warehouse IKEA is able to deliver verity of products to its retail store and through the interior designing IKEA show unique store look and product presentation to its customer (IKEA 2012).
What business strategy does the company use to compete?
Many people believes that the special store outlook of IKEA furniture is one of the good strategy which having big impact on the buying behaviour of its customer regarding its product, because of its good store lay out lot ,customer also buy those product which they are not pre plane to buy, but after looking to layout of the store they realize they have to buy some other products also, for example customer come into store to buy dinning furniture but in the way to going dining furniture area customer see bedroom furniture display and realize we have a old bed and it’s time to change that ,all of this decision customer take at spot after looking the good presentation on the store.(James Tozer 2011)..
