Organizational Structure Paper
Fast food chains such as McDonald’s, Burger King, and Chick-fil-a, all have an interest in making growing profits and enlarging their companies’ name. Although each company has their own unique and different set of requirements for functioning, the organizational structure has given these companies chance and opportunity to expand to outside parties. Using this paper, I will show the different ways in which these companies use the organizational structures.

Chick-fil-A’s purpose is to, “glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A” ("Chick-Fil-A", 2014).
Chick-fil-A has a hierarchal structure which has the CEO is at the top, the Chairman, the Vice President, the Senior Directors, and then you have your District Managers, General Managers, Assistant Managers, and lastly, the employees. Unlike McDonald’s, who has a divisional structure which includes a board of directors, a CEO and a vice chair. Another way that McDonald’s differs from Chick-fil-A is they have a school called Hamburger University. Although they both value education and advancing in it, McDonald’s is one of the only fast-food chains to have their own school for their employees. Since the year of 1961, Hamburger University has offered graduates a unique management program that is as challenging as it is comprehensive. Hamburger University teaches a total of 28 languages that include Spanish, Japanese, German, French, and Mandarin, and some college credits can be earned at the University. McDonald’s is the only restaurant organization that awards college credits from the American Council on Education ("McDonald’s", 2010-2015). Burger King also has a divisional type structure for its franchise. The divisional structure is very flexible but it focuses more of the attention on the employees and the management for better results on the product that is at hand, how the customer is affected by the product whether it is a good reaction or a bad one, and how the product is accepted in different geographical areas. Each level in the divisional structure handles its own issues within that level whereas Chick-fil-A handles everything all together. Meaning, that if there is a problem or an idea it goes through all levels until it reaches the head who them makes the decisions because they are more based on the hierarchical structure.
The Chick-fil- A franchise grows more and more every day. The headquarters is located in Atlanta, Georgia where it all began. Most of the Chick-fil-A restaurants are located in more of the southern states but they are located in more than thirty-nine states in the U.S. The franchise has also gone global by expanding into South Africa. Chick-fil-A is one of these most widespread fast-food chains in the market today. The franchise can be found in malls, hospitals, drive-thru only restaurants, Dwarf Houses, free standing restaurants, lunch counters and even some licensed shopping outlets.
When it comes to their position in the fast-food industry, they are very high...
