I observed that the boy changes his clothing during a break from playing two times. This appears to me that he has self-awareness and takes pride in how he looks and dresses. He was asked to carry bags of trash to the car that appeared to be too heavy for him to carry. After his mother asked the older brother to intervene and take the bags he became very angry and snatched away from his brother. According to the lessons on child development he appears to have self-efficacy (Papli, E.D., Feldman, R.D., 2011 p. 32). The boy smiles after his mother says thank you, for your help, you are strong. The appears to me as if he wants to seek approval from his mother which might implies that he has some type of emotional issue. If my children felt as if they were not happy with the way they look, I would let them know that beauty is only skin deep. And we should accept the body and images that God has given us. To him we are beautiful and that is all that really matters.
