STUDYING. Obtain a copy of the memorandum for the board. The memorandum will cover important information such as the date and time of the board, who the board members are and what subjects will be covered. Study the questions and answers in the battalion study guide, and be prepared to answer other questions. Read the newspaper, watch the news and be prepared to express your opinions on local, national, and world events. Know your chain of command and your unit's history.
B. PREPARING YOUR UNIFORM. Try your uniform on. If it does not present a neat appearance, turn your uniform in for alterations and/or cleaning. When setting up your uniform, use a ruler and check placement of all items worn IAW AR 670-1. I will personally inspect every soldiers' uniform no later than seven days before the board.
C. REHEARSING. Practice reporting to the President of the board. To build your self-confidence, practice answering questions. If you do not know the answer to a question, do not loose your military bearing. Finally, be prepared to tell the board members why you think you should be promoted.
