7 billion and the increased pension contributions of $1.1 billion. Lockheed Martin operates in a complex environment that is continually changing with global security, as well as the economic pressures in the U.S. and globally. A big component of Lockheed Martin’s strategy in this complex environment is to focus on program execution, improving the quality and the predictability of the delivery of Lockheed Martin’s products and services, and placing security capability more quickly into the hands of both their domestic and international customers at affordable prices. Since Lockheed Martin recognizes that their customers have resources that are constrained, they are developing and extending their portfolio in a disciplined manner that focuses on markets that are closer to their core capabilities.

Even though Lockheed Martin faces challenges, they are continuingly investing in new technologies that fulfill the requirements for their customers, as well as invest in their own employees so that their employees have the technical skills necessary to be successful and to return at least 50% of free cash flow to investors, which will be in the forms of dividends and share repurchases.

Lockheed Martin had 34,400 holders of common stock as of January 31,2013, par value $1 per share. Their shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol LMT.
