John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born at 83 Beals Street in Brookline, Massachusetts on May 29, 1917, to Rose Fitzgerald and Joseph P. Kennedy (Barbara, H.1992). John was named after his parental grandfather, John Fitzgerald. The Mayor of Boston during 1906-1908. John was the second of four boys born to an Irish Catholic family with children of nine. When John was young, the Kennedy family had moved from Boston to New York. As John’s dad became wealthier. John had moved schools more often, also moving towards richer parts of New York. One day when Joseph Kennedy (father of John F. Kennedy) convinced Kennedy that he should run for Congress in Massachusetts’s eleventh congressional district, and had won in 1946. This was just a start in Kennedy’s political career. As the years went on, Kennedy, a Democrat, served three terms (six years) in the House of Representatives, and in 1952 he was elected to the U.S. Senate. Soon after being elected Senator, John F. Kennedy met his future wife at a dinner party in Washington, D.C in 1951. Eventually on September, 12, 1953, Kennedy married Jacqueline "Jackie" Lee Bouvier Fitzgerald, the daughter of the New York Times Financer (World Book. 2003).

John F. Kennedy was eventually becoming a popular politician. In 1956 he was almost chosen to run for vice president, but then Kennedy no less than decided to run for president in the next election. Kennedy than began working long hours and began traveling all around the country for campaigning and had eventually all paid off. On July, 13th Kennedy asked Lyndon B. Johnson to run for vice president, thinking he was the right man for the job. Finally in the general election on November 8, 1960, Kennedy defeated the Republican vice president Richard M. Nixon in a very close race. At the age of 43, Kennedy was the youngest man ever elected president and the first Catholic ever elected.
When Kennedy became president he had worried about the possibility of a nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union. In October 1962, An American U-2 spy plane had secretly photographed nuclear missile sites being constructed by the Soviet Union on the island of Cuba. President Kennedy did not want the Soviet Union to know he had discovered the missiles so he had kept quiet about it. After many long and difficult meetings, Kennedy decided to place a ring of ships around Cuba. The aim of this was to prevent the ships from bringing in more military supplies. Eventually a deal was agreed to in which the Soviets would dismantle the weapon sites in exchange for a pledge from the United Sates that they will not invade...
