Abstract ;This research paper has been divided into three parts, introduction encompasses the meaning of Regional Integration and Globalization, the second part trying to examine the notion whether regional integration and globalization compliment or contradict each other and the last part provides general view on the notion.

Regional Integrations refers to the process where by political actors in several distinct National settings are persuaded to shift their loyalties, expectations and political activities towards a new Centre, whose institutions possess or demands jurisdiction over pre-existing national state (Haas 1968:16). Also according to Charles Oman 1996:5 Globalization as the growth or more precisely the accelerated growth of economic activities across National and regional political boundaries. It finds expression in the increasing movement of tangible and intangible goods and services including ownership rights via trade and investment, and often by people via migration. It can be and often facilitated by lowering of government impediment to that movements or by technological progress, notably in transportation and communication. Again has been defined by Todaro M,P and smith W,C 2003 as a process by which the economies of the World become increasingly integrated leading global economy with global economic policy making, through such international agencies as the World trade organizations(WTO). Therefore, globalization is regarded as the situation where the world become interdependence and interconnected in all aspect that is social, economic, and political as well as technologically.
To incur with the question, the notion whether Regional integration compliment or contradict with globalization have been explained by the following Arguments as follows:-
Kudor Akira 2000 argues that since from the history it can be hypothesized that regionalization progresses when hegemony is on the wane, it can be inferred that the two hegemony and regionalization have progressed in a tense relationship. Regional integration may therefore be seen as significant alignment in opposition to globalization.
Indeed is the bedrock on the contention that regional integration and globalization are contradictory. This is because globalization is promoted by the hegemony, indeed globalization can be seen as the universalization of hegemonic values and this explains the arguments that globalization in the present day equated with Americanization.
The essence for the creation for regional economic integration is to give them greater ability to protect regional and national interest in relation to other countries, transnational companies and international organizations this contradicts the globalizations as under global system only the strong economically, socially and technological benefited at the expense of weak states as long as regional integration aimed at ensuring interest of the member countries.
The idea of formulating the policies that encourages Intra-regional trade and offer barrier to external trade example regional integration like Common Market For Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has established rules and policies guiding the trading among member countries, this contradict the views of proponents of globalization which are geared towards free movements of the factors of production on the global scale not limited to the region. Idea advanced is that by putting tariff and non-tariff barrier on non- members , regional organizations reduces global trade and obviously reduce efficiency in the market hence the proponents of globalization would see the rules of origins...
