When it comes to America anything is possible and with a little hard work all dreams can be made possible. Everyone is treated equally, freedom is a right not a privilege, and there’s no limit to what one man can accomplish. Overall America is probably one of the top countries someone could live in; People go to extreme lengths such as sneaking cross the border or building un-sturdy boats to take on the notorious deep blue sea in hopes of getting to America. This has cause immigration to evolve into a serious situation. Immigration affects the United States in a variety of ways, both good and bad.
The Unites States provides numerous opportunities for immigrants, opportunities that may be scarce or not available in their home land. Equal rights laws make it easier for illegal aliens to have an even set playing field when it’s comes to getting a job and/or an education. Illegal immigrants are usually very determined to have a better life or to take care of their ...view middle of the document...
Whenever they purchase a good or commodity, in a way they are paying taxes as well”. So allowing immigrants in the United States would benefit the country economically while providing the opportunity for immigrants to be part of the American dream.
Culture diversity is also a benefiting factor in allowing immigrants in the United Sates, it helps induce new products and also product type, bobei says “immigrants moving in means more ethnic restaurants to dine in, more cultural centers to enjoy, and easier access to products only available in other countries” as he list culture diversity in his benefits of immigration article. Though there are plenty of reasons immigration can be an advantage to the U.S it can very well have many negatives as well. Immigration causes problems such as high poverty rates, increase in crime and competitions grow more intense having to compete with more competitors for employment. Immigration also causes the spread of diseases new or uncommon in America.
Immigration has cost the U.S government millions of dollars, with the added pressure of having to create bigger schools, roads, and the need to increase law enforcement. Immigrants usually don’t do their tax but take advantage of opportunities and facilities such as schools which Americans pay for through their taxes. The government expenditure then goes up and taxes increase. Andrew Wallace, Matthew Kretman and Scott Strogatz support my argument in their debate “Most undocumented workers receive their payments in cash, and therefore, are not subject to federal tax deductions. If they do pay federal taxes, it is because they acquire fraudulent information, and their wages are usually so low that their contributions are insignificant. Consequently, many people argue that these immigrants are costing our government a substantial amount of money by receiving benefits such as education, health care, food assistance programs, and welfare”.
The United States, the land of the free is a place immigrants come too to find a better life, with all of the opportunities provided here it makes it easier for them to be successful. Overall immigrations has its pros and cons neither necessarily out weights the other, but maybe with different government policies or laws it can change the outcome of immigration into a more positive affect.
