Makanan Tradisional

Makanan bagi sesuatu kaum merupakan identiti dan pengenalan bagi sesuatu kaum. Terdapat banyak jenis makanan dalam masyarakat Kadazandusun.
Biasanya kita dapat melihat pelbagai jenis hidangan ini di musim perayaan seperti Pesta Kaamatan yang dirayakan setiap tahun iaitu 30 dan 31 Mei.
Selain perayaan, biasanya suku kaum Kadazandusun yang tinggal di kampung, masih mengamalkan cara masakan atau hidangan secara tradisional ini.
Kita juga dapat melihat dan merasa hidangan seumpama ini pada masa upacara seperti perkahwinan dan majlis lain di adakan oleh suku kaum Kadazandusun.

Benda-benda yang dihasilkan meliputi kelengkapan rumah, pertanian dan pemburuan di samping benda untuk kegunaan ritual dan upacara keagamaan. Penghasilan kraftangan mereka bergantung pada sumber alam sekitar dan keperluan dari segi budaya.
Kaum lelaki dan wanita secara tradisi membuat berbagai-bagai jenis kraftangan. Di pedalaman Sabah, sebilangan besar kaum wanita membuat terendak, anyaman tikar, tenunan kain, sulaman, bakul-bakul kecil, nyiru dan benda-benda kecil untuk kegunaan seharian. Kaum lelaki pula membuat bakul yang lebih besar, parang, alat-alat membajak dan memburu, jala dan alat menangkap ikan yang lain dan senjata. Dikalangan masyarakat nelayan tepi pantai, kaum lelaki membuat perahu, ukiran kayu, alat penangkap ikan dan wanitanya menenun dan menyulam kain, mengayam tikar dan lain-lain.

Kebanyakan suku kaum di Sabah memilih hitam sebagai warna pakaian traditional mereka. Penggunaan warna hitam asalnya daripada kepercayaan bahawa warna hitam adalah lambang kekuasaan atau warna ketuhanan yang mana dapat melindungi si pemakai daripada makhluk-makhluk halus yang jahat.
Pada masa lalu, batu akik merah, manik-manik kaca berwarna, kulit kowri,mutiara,butang putih atau cakera yang dibuat daripada cengkerang dan tembaga digunakan untuk menghiasi pakaian lelaki dan perempuan. Pada hari ini, kebanyakan hiasan-hiasan ini diganti dengan manik-manik plastik dan bahan moden yang lain seperti benang emas dan perak, labuci dan benang berwarna.
