“Hope in a hopeless situation”
My uncle grew up in a poor family, but in the age of 25 he started to become successful in his business. He then married and had 2 children. Last year was an emotional breakdown for him, and his family and friends. First, he felt dizzy and uncomfortable. Then, he slowly lost his appetite in every meal. So he decided to see the doctor, only to find out the he has cancer in his lungs and brain. He had kidney cancer before, and he decided then to remove the infected kidney, so the virus of the cancer would be removed fully. But it is actually impossible to remove the entire cancer virus. After his surgery, he continued to his daily routine and eating habits. Until ...view middle of the document...

I wasn’t ready to go and I was so afraid of death, imagining myself lying in the bed, sleeping forever. I was thinking how I could leave my children when they need me the most, they are still growing and they still need my support. And my wife, she would breakdown and have sleepless nights.” After answering, he looked away from me. I realized his eyes were teary and reddish. But I went on anyways, I asked again “What gave you hope again?” He smiled and answered proudly “My family. They are my hope. They are my mission. God gave me them, for it is my duty to be strong and stay strong to support and be there for them” I smiled and thought, God is good. I asked him lastly before he stood up from the dining table “No offense , but you are suffering so much, what gives meaning to your life, or do you still value your life?” he smiled to me and said “As I said, Family gives me strength, for they are the meaning of my life. They are the meaning for my continuing existence. I may be suffering and tortured with physical pain, but when I think of my loved ones, I know that my suffering is worth suffering. I believe that every life is valuable. No matter how hard your situation in life is, you should always find your strength and never lose hope. Even in my situation right now, I consider myself very lucky and blessed, for God blessed me and continues to bless me, and gave me all that I need in my life.”
After we said our goodnights, I realized that all life is blessed and lucky, no matter how poor or hard your situation is, for some people didn’t survive when they were delivered into this world. It is up to us to find our strength and hope in life, depending on how we see things in different perspectives and open our mind to different possibilities.
