The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is a body of the United Nations Program that provides assistance to children and their mothers in the developing countries. The organization helps in building a world where every child enjoys the liberty and freedom. The organization believes in the fact that a today’s children will determine tomorrow’s world. It also creates an awareness among them to make them ready to protect others in this regard. Apart from the creation of awareness, UNICEF supports the families suffering from HIV/AIDS to live a dignitary’s life. UNICEF is an organization whose objective is to build an environment where children can feel themselves safe and secure. The organization works towards relieving pain from the life of children may it be from a disease or due to a threatening situation where the children face violence, abuse or exploited.
UNICEF upholds the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It ensures that both girls and boys are treated equally (David Gorski, 2012). It works for the Millennium development Goals and for the progress terms mentioned in the United Nations Charter UNICEF is also the part of the Global Movement for Children – a broad coalition dedicated to improving the life of every child. Through this movement, and events such as the United Nations Special Session on Children, the UN body encourages young people to speak out and participate in the decisions that affect their lives. UNICEF is active and working towards the empowerment of children and women in more than 190 countries and subcontinents through country programs and National committees throughout the world.
II - An Insight into the Problem
Let’s look at the obesity problem in children living in United States. After looking at the research we see that the racial and ethnic difference of the Hispanic and the black kids are more common than the white children residing there. This study was also made in England that concluded the same results where the obesity was more common in the children of black Caribbean poor to these why belonged to black African ancestry along with the Asian ancestry as compared to the white children living there. There have been always the heath advantages to the immigrant status; there can be an understanding for having foreign-born based mother would be protective against child overweight and obesity. There has been deep study in both United States and England that clearly outlined that the nonwhite minority children are more prone to the child overweight and obesity related problems (Karren Pallarito, 2009). Their studies also proved that the children belonging to the immigrant parents are very low on risk associated with the obesity and overweight because if the native born parents within each race or ethnicity.
When looking into the problems associated with the child overweight and socioeconomic status then we will find it baffling and complicated. Higher the money higher will be the money to spend on quality food and safe environment is achievable for children for tem being physically fit. Whereas on the other hand it also contradict with the fact where higher the money means intake of excess calories, especially among the immigrants in whose country the same food in copious than in united states.
