Over last summer we had to put an all new sewer system in the campsite I work at. It is a home town family owned and run campsite. The campsite is only open 3 months out of the year and it’s located on Tupper Lake. I’ve been working there for 9 years and it’s like my second home. We had no problem installing the new system it was the fact that the old one had to be replaced. The campsite had a self-maintain system which was over 50 years old. In order to manage the extra sewage not only would the main pipe line have to be lengthened. But there would need to be another pump installed to get the proper pressure needed to push the sewage to the processing plant. So it wasn’t entirely the villages fault either. So basically the only way for Frank to deal with the situation was to just have a new sewer system installed. This was a big commitment for a small bruises owner like himself. But he loved the campsite and it has always been in his family, so he was willing to do anything to keep it open. He called the company that was going to do the sewer and they came and installed it. The whole project took about 2 weeks from start to finish. It ended up costing him $94,000 which was less than originally anticipated but still a huge investment. He took a lot of big risks having this new system put in, it put the campsite in jeopardy of closing the same year due to the weather. It seemed like everything that could go bad did. So we thought of a simple solution to make more money the next season. I suggested raising the prices of the camp sites and dock rentals which he thought was a good idea. So the next season he raised the price of a site from 25 dollars a day to 27 dollars a day. Not a huge change but it makes a big difference when u rent thousands of sites. The campsite has 80 seasonal sites that he charged $1100 dollars a season. He raised the price by a hundred dollars to $1200 for the season....
