Background of the Study
One of the most trending networking sites nowadays is what they called facebook. Facebook is a social networking website intended to connect friends, family and business associates. But for this purpose, you have to be loyal and honest with yourself. One of facebook addiction signs is that the addicted checks facebook daily on regular basis in morning and evening. Further, if a person uses the facebook more than 2 hours, he or she is addicted. A severe urge felt during boredom is also considered a sign of facebook addiction. If you want to know about your facebook addiction, you would observe an urge to talk with your friends over facebook instead of going out to them. It would be impossible for you to live without facebook for at least two days (
Furthermore, lots of college going student using this social network for their time spending. But they don’t know exactly how to affect the facebook addiction in their life, for the reason that they addicted in facebook using.
The main negative effects of facebook on students are;
* The students waste their study time for using Facebook and other social network sites.
* The student broken their real life relationship for building internet relationships
* The facebook addiction reduce student health and physical capacity
* The students lost their sleeping time and studying time at night.
The above negative effects of facebook will very bad in student’s life. Social network site are good for everyone, but addiction of the social network sites is create a very dangerous results ( ).
Thus, the purpose of this study is that to really emphasize the behavioral effects of the students if they were involved in this addiction to facebook and to help them to conquer this addiction.
Statement of the Problem
This study aims to find out the behavioral effects of facebooking in 1st year and 2nd year students of USeP-CGBE, Mintal, Davao City.
This study sought to answer some questions:
1. What is the socio-demographic profile of the students in terms of:
a. Age ;
b. Gender;
c. Course and Year?
2. How many hours they spent in facebooking per week?
3. What is the behavioral effects of facebooking in terms of:
a. Study habit;
b. Socialization of friends; and
c. Attitude?
Scope and Delimitation
This research covers and focuses only in the 50 1st year students and 50 2nd year students of USeP-CGBE, Mintal Campus. This study will send the second semester February- March 2012.
Significance of the Study
By being exposed in facebook, the 1st year and 2nd year student has a great impact most especially in behavioral aspects, particularly when they become addicted and not concentrate in their study, so we come up to this study entitled “Behavioral Effects of Facebooking in 1st year and 2nd Year Student of USeP-CGBE”.
