In today’s economy, who is the person that creates their own destiny? Entrepreneurs are the leaders who take matters in their own hands and create a perception on life that motivates within. They have the ability to adapt to virtually any situation that is put in their face. They confront challenge and controversy and are willing to do what ever it takes to overcome those challenges. Mind Tools state “While it may not be the most appealing leadership strategy in terms of building relationships and developing a long-term motivating work environment, it does work, and it's used in most organizations on a daily basis to get things done.” Since this particular style is leader-follower mentality, it is hard for the leader to build a strong emotional connection between the follows or inspire the followers to do more than they ever imagined doing.
The transformational leader has the mindset of developing the people and the organization of team. In this particular style, the strength would be in relationship building. These types of leaders want the employees to be the best they could be on a daily basis. Transformational leaders a generally enthusiastic, motivating, and passionate about what they do. In return, they will get the same feedback from their employees or co-workers. The types of organization the style of leader will succeed in the most are network marketing industries. According to Burns, transformational leadership is seen when “leaders and followers help each other to advance to a higher level of moral and motivation” (1978). A Transitional leader’s weakness is the gift of being a leader. For example, a person can be a good leader naturally but the people that follow might not have that natural ability to be a leader. That will lead to a multitude of followers which makes it harder to duplicate that particular system.
The authentic leader is considered a true leader. This type of leader has a natural ability to lead people. They are genuine and original instead of being one that means to be authentic but isn’t. The organization the authentic leader would thrive in a company similar to General Electric. The authentic leader must live fearlessly in order to survive in business. For example, if the CEO of GE comes into a situation that nobody agreed on what is going on, then that type of leader must take the initiative and do what is right. This category of leader would have problems in taking things too far. Even though authentic leaders are very decisive, this can lead to dictatorship and being over controlling.
Small Business Administration and SCORE
Several sources in today’s day help entrepreneurs in everyday business life. Two major sources are the Small business Association (SBA) and SCORE. The SBA program helps and protects businesses by allowing them to get counseling and financial assistance. SCORE is a Non-Profit organization that allows business owners to get confidential advice to help them run their business better. The most resourceful tool available is what the SBA provides.
