Developing an effective employee incentive/recognition program has a direct affect on employee morale and will enhance the performance of the chamber; resulting in a more professional, productive staff for its membership. Some of the advantages that can result from increases in morale are: cooperation, loyalty, leadership, retention, and empowerment. I look forward to enhancing these qualities within our team with you.

Executive Summary

This proposal discusses the benefits and procedures of developing and implementing an employee incentive/recognition program. This program will provide a plan to increase employee morale and performance.

The recent changes within management and staff that are associated with the decline and morale and productivity will be a tool to enhance morale. Creating a program and enabling the direct input of the staff will act as a team building exercise to increase team cohesion and strengthen the bond between management and their team.

In addition to a cohesive team, the professional and productive staff of the chamber will enhance its image within the community. This will increase membership and help in retaining existing members.

A variety of information is available to assist in the development and implementation of this program. As we work toward a finished product we know that there will be new ways to provide incentive/recognition and this program will be flexible. Continuing to adapt the program will allow it to remain affective.




An employee incentive/recognition program provides employee satisfaction. In this economic time, a reduction in employee morale is becoming more apparent. “This downward trend in job satisfaction raises concerns about the overall engagement of U.S. employees and ultimately employee productivity, retention, creativity, risk-taking, mentoring, and in overall employee motivation and interest in work” (Heathfield, n.d., ¶5). Companies as a whole are examining methods to increase employee satisfaction.

The chamber is no exception to the decline in morale and productivity. In addition to the state of the economy, the chamber has experienced a high turn over rate and has recently gained new management and staff members. This affords the chamber with the opportunity to focus on a program to...
