A. Sampling Design
The study used purposive sampling design, which is a form of non-probability sampling (Polit & Hunglar, 1999). Freshmen engineering students who are enrolled during school year 2010 – 2011 at Cavite State University which is comprised 0.5 percent of the total population will be the sample size of the study. The sample population is 50 taken from approximately 1000 engineering students of Cavite State University.
B. Data Gathering

VI. Statistical Treatment
The percentage method was used to determine the effects of romantic relationships in the studies of Cavite State University students. The Pearson r correlation was also used to determine the relation of the grades of the students to the total number of boyfriends/girlfriends they had and the number of years of their experience in romantic relationships. According to Susan Archambault (2000) of the Psychology Department of Wellesley College, The Pearson R correlation tells the magnitude and direction of the association between two variables that are on an interval or ratio scale.
The formula for the Pearson r correlation is shown below.
 
 
 
 
DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
 
The effects of romantic relationships to the studies of Cavite State University students in terms of reviewing, accomplishing home works and focusing on the lessons/discussions were gathered and tabulated as percentage of the total respondents.  The results are shown below.

            Table 1 shows the effects of romantic relationships to the studies of Cavite State University students in terms of reviewing, accomplishing home works and focusing on the lessons/ discussions. According to the results, in terms of reviewing, 60% of the respondents are affected positively by their boyfriends/girlfriends, 35% are not affected at all by their boyfriends/girlfriends, while only 5% are affected negatively by their boyfriends/ girlfriends.
            In terms of accomplishing homeworks, projects and reports, 58% of the respondents are affected positively by their boyfriends/ girlfriends, 39% are not affected at all by their boyfriends/girlfriends, while only 3% are affected negatively by their boyfriends/ girlfriends.
            In terms of focus on the lessons/ discussions, 52% of the respondents are affected positively by their boyfriends/girlfriends, 38% are not affected at all by their boyfriends/ girlfriends, while only 10% are affected negatively by their boyfriends/ girlfriends.

            Table 2 shows the effects romantic relationships to the studies of Cavite State University Students in general. According to the results, in general 56.67% of the respondents are affected positively by their boyfriends/girlfriends, 37.33% are not affected at all by their boyfriends/ girlfriends, while only 6% are affected negatively by their boyfriends/ girlfriends.
