DIVERSITY AUDIT
SECTION 1
Managing Global Diversity

Describe the organization
The Organization I have chosen to Audit will be SunTrust Bank, Inc. SunTrust Banks, Inc., with total assets of $170.8 billion on March 31, 2011, is one of the nation’s largest financial services holding companies. Through its flagship subsidiary, SunTrust Bank, the company provides deposit, credit, trust, and investment services to a broad range of retail, business, and institutional clients. Other subsidiaries provide mortgage banking, brokerage, investment management, equipment leasing, and investment banking services. Atlanta-based SunTrust enjoys leading positions in some of the most attractive markets in the United ...view middle of the document...

I am currently an employee of SunTrust Mortgage and the only African –American employee out of 25 people. The prior 2 other African American employees one left the company after 25 years and the other job was eliminated at a time when we are covered with business and overworked.
Explain why you selected this organization
I selected this organization because I see a breakdown of the diversity here, there are not a lot of different race’s that either have top position nor employed within this organization. I feel like this is being swept under the rug and there has to be a reason why upper management doesn’t feel the need to make this business diversified in 2011. In simplest terms, workplace diversity is variety different ethnicities, races and genders represented within a workforce at every level, from the mailroom to the boardroom. Many experts maintain that representation is the backbone of a strong corporate diversity program. Strategic recruitment and retention programs help achieve this goal, with a blended workforce as the end result. I place representation at the top of the list when it comes to measuring effectiveness, and in my opinion SunTrust Bank Inc does not represent this.
Discuss what steps you will need to take to complete the diversity
I will conduct The 30 item 'MANAGING DIVERSITY' QUESTIONNAIRE”
* The groups to measure differences for are:
men vs. women (overall)
black vs. white (overall)
black management vs. white management
male management vs. female management
* THE 20 item 'DIVERSITY OPIONAIRE'The groups to measure differences for are:
men vs. women (overall)
black vs. white (overall)
black management vs. white management
* I will interview past employees current employees about the diversity issue both men and women and of all races.
* I will target employees who have applied for and didn’t get a promotion and investigate and attempt to interview the employees who have gotten promotions.
