Cultural and Social Life of Bishnupriya
Culture is a broad concept, its limit is wide, literal meaning speaks about intellectual activities of minds when focused or reflected on a screen like society, the display/demonstration when produce a particular contribution to the aid of the then civilization, the whole exposition contribute to what we call culture. Culture of mind leads to research, results, culture of civilization shows the development of a society through evolution.

Unlike the other aspects of the society, the Dhapa have been named purely in the Bishnupriya language and style. Each and every Dhapa follows its own historical background of naming, which throws light on the past heritage of their ancestors.
In trying to give a brief account of the socio cultural life of the Bishnupriya i.e. at least some basic institutions can be identified viz., family, marriage, religion, rituals, festivals, kinship and beliefs. The Bishnupriya perform many kinds of games and sports as part of their culture.
Right from the very beginning of the Bishnupriya society, children lived together with their parents till their marriage. Each individual in the society casts a great esteem for a joint family. Separation among brothers carry with themselves their right to property, but it takes place in course of time not in a hurry. By turn, parents have a major say in the distribution of property. The weakest son of the family gets qualitatively and quantitatively better share of the property than others but all the sons bear the responsibilities of the parents till their death.
