As a result there have been several employee dismissals and a legal bill of approximately $225 million spent so far. (Kowitt, 2012; Coleman-Lochner, 2011) Also, Avon has not reached its target projections of sales growth in the last five quarters. (Coleman-Lochner, 2011)
Objectives and Strategies
In the 2011 annual report it shows the main focus of the company is getting back on a growth track as quickly as possible. After evaluation of all external and internal factors they are immediately attempting to reignite the direct selling momentum, cutting costs, strengthening cash flows, and improving the overall operating and management effectiveness. A critical priority is to accelerate revenue growth. Streamlining processes and reducing headcount to eliminate duplicate work and cut costs will generate cash flows. Restructuring the management team will ensure leadership within the firm and enable success by recruiting strong leadership from outside sources. Also, by continuing to advocate for women’s rights through Avon’s Foundation for Women they will move forward to restore the company to its previous glory.
