COMMUNICATION DIFFERENCES AND STATEGIES ESSAY

Communication is two ways interaction process that has receiver and sender. Communication takes place in an environment which can have different types of disturbances. There are various
factors that influence a communication process. These can be individual factors or environmental factors. Individual factors include factors related to senders and receivers. This paper is an effort to discuss one of such individual factors “Gender” in interpersonal communication process.

Respecting will allow people to speak openly, giving due respect to one another and allowing the other person speak for himself.
* Communication without interrupting one another
Here no one volunteers other for the communication process. Each person participating in interpersonal communication volunteers himself.
* In Interpersonal communication, one speaks about “I”
In Interpersonal communication, people participating talks for themselves. The sentences often contain letter “I”.
* Speaking interpersonal communication is limited with time spend and topics discussed
* One has right to pass in interpersonal communication
Interpersonal communication may not be the primary task for any person. People can stop conversation for some other important work or deny participation in the same. In interpersonal communication, behavior of a person challenged rather than the person specific. People talk about “I” interpersonal communication and other people responds in the perspective of “I” indicates behavior of a person and this “I” is challenged whenever it is required during communication.
* Confidentiality is respected in interpersonal communication
Interpersonal communication people expect confidentiality and the success of interpersonal communication depends on the level of confidentiality one has with each other.
* Mistakes are acceptable in interpersonal Communication
People tend to make mistakes, and mistakes are acceptable in interpersonal communication to enable uninterrupted communication process. One of the biggest problems in a relationship is that each of the two communicates in his or her own language and don't bother to translate their message or their partner's message. In other words, she will suffer because he doesn't tell her he loves her and other sweet things that women like to say and subsequently expect from their partners. He will be annoyed because she can't stop talking and feels like having a conversation when he is doing something important like watching a game or fixing the remote control.

There are many different barriers to communication with genders. These barriers can be person specific of environmental. The barriers of communication are:
* Language
* Perception
* Nonverbal Communication
* Noise
* Barriers at Receiver’s end
* Barriers at Sender’s end
* Relationship between sender and receiver
* Culture
* Power issues
* Assumptions
* Language
Language is one of the main barriers of interpersonal communication with gender. The communication process will be entirely broken if people from two different languages try to communicate. Probably they will have to rely on the non verbal form of communication only. This will also not ensure hundred percent communications between the persons interacting. Language becomes barrier when people do not know right use of words and cannot understand the meaning of things spoken.
