1626 words - 7 pages

1. Describe product and strategy of Cirque du Soleil. In which ways is it different
from traditional circus?

The Cirque du Soleil offers a one of a kind of spectacle, made for many types of
audiences of different cultures to enjoy. The product that Cirque du Soleil offers is an
artistic shows which semblance a circus but it’s not quite the same. For starters, all of
the shows are a rich mixture of several acrobatic and acting talents, without using any
animals. They also include in every show inspirational and unique composed music,
which has the particularity of being sung in Latin, that way they are transcending all
cultural barriers they can encounter in ...view middle of the document...

The constant investment on teaching new things to their artist, making them feel at
home (even when on tour) and making the company a good place to develop, no matter
in which discipline you are working on, is the main strategy, which in the end reflect on a
high quality product, full of passion, heart and feelings.

2. Which kind of support is given to the stars to provide a superior performance?

Workers receive different types of benefits working for Cirque Du Soleil from basics
need such as food and housing to career opportunities. When a new artist get hired, they
get sure that everybody helps them with the act in order to perform at his best. There’s
people from all over the world working so they give the opportunity to employees to have
language training on site (offering them 6 languages) in order they can communicate

between each other. This is really important since they have people from all over the world
and many of them only speak their native language and they have found important that
they can all interact between each other. They try to make the artist happy, when the
actors found something outside that can be beneficial for them and the Cirque to improve
their on stage performance or skills, they hired people who can help them with that for
example; in the case of the clowns they found somebody that they really wanted to work
with in New York and they contract the clown (after the approval of Headquarters) to teach
the artists inside the Cirque new techniques so at the end they learn from artist from all
over the world.
At the Cirque, they help people to have personal grow base on time and effort. Even
though in some cases when people gets hired they start earning less than in other places
at the end they justificate this. In the case of Oberacker he was surprised of the low salary
he was receiving but, they told him to “build the blocks, put in your time, the rewards will
be there” and so it was. The Cirque offer much more shows than everyone else in the
industry even Broadway (Cirque offer 10 shows a week) and because they’re paid per
show at the end they earn more than other places. Therefore, although initially they
offered lowered salaries as they have been adjusting them to be closer to mean as the
cirque has grown.
Initially the artist that are hired specially children are brought to the cirque with their
families or at least other people from their own villages to make sure they get enough
support and the work in Cirque du Solei is not to hard. to increase the support given to
this children the cirque also brings a lot of opportunities both artistic and economical to
allow them to grow in their personal careers. In many of the cases “its like opening a red
door for every one of them” which is allowing them to have greater opportunities in the
artistic world allowing them to be known and improve their discipline. This is the case for
both children and adults because the cirque is...
