The “vif” and the Furious (Fashion Designer and entrepreneur)
He was born in 1958 in Avignon France. As a teenager he aspired to follow the Rolling Stones, but his inability to sing led him to channel his desire by designing hip, rock n’ Roll denim wear.
After designing his denim wear collection (as a teenager), he caught the eye of McKeen Jeans. After this first success, Audigier became a young designer and start traveling the globe from a place to another. Then he moved to the big apple, New York City where he opened his first own fashion company in order to pursue the American dream.

When in LA, Audigier succeeded in catapulting the brand Von Dutch from the depths of obscurity to the forefront of trends. His strategy was to court celebrities to wear his designs, especially the hat with the signature Von Dutch on it. This is what leads to the success of Von Dutch at that time.
In 2004, Audigier left Von Dutch. The he began with his venture Ed Hardy (the tattoo-inspired fashion). The collection have been hugely successful and he got the support of all his famous friends and over five thousand stars in the entertainment, music, sports industries, including Britney Spears, Kanye West and Madonna.
In parallel with his work with Ed Hardy, he continued to develop his own fashion company by launching the eponymous, and similarly successful, Christian Audigier line. This collection boasts higher retail prices.
Through this success, Audigier earned interest from celebrities in starting joint lines. In 2009, Madonna thought about collaboration.
A part of his entire apparel venture, Audigier has also a non-apparel venture, which includes a line of fine wines, dental products and a namesake nightclub in Las Vegas.
But after this string of successes, Audigier met some troubles. His former employers sued him. In 2005 by Von Dutch and in 2007 by Hardy Life. Bryan Callan also sued him for unfair competition. This suit raises additional issues as to ownership of copyright, wince Callan applied for federal copyright registration over the artwork whilst under the employ of Audigier’s label.
