The recruitment strategy for the general management position would consist on selecting a candidate that is open to the idea of international travel and perhaps dealing with a customer culture that is very different from what is considered normal culture. The focus in selecting an applicant would involve the exposure to the Japanese culture as a whole. Culture difference can pay a huge roll in a service industry position. The hotel and resort will feature customer from many different areas of the world but mostly will consist of the Japanese culture customer base. It is critical that the applicant understand the Japanese language and vernacular. Ben’s Chophouse and Grill is essentially and Americanized Company that is looking to expand into international means. The applicant must be fluent in Japanese and must have understanding of both cultures and how to mix and represent the Ben’s Chophouse and Grill brand in two, often conflicting, environments. Finding an applicant that is a citizen of United States of America and willing to work in Japan would present some problems since the relocation is so vast. The main focus group would be American descendants of the Japanese culture or Japanese speaking Americans that studied any international business majors with second language of Japanese.
