In the schedule it starts off with a brief which was the discussion of whether the project was on angels or demons, then in week 2 we did some research and developing, looking at short featured films to get some inspiration, such as the Benylin tablet, Vauxhall Corsa and Mascot advertisements to get some inspirations on CGI characters interacting with an interior or exterior environments. for example the Benylin Ad which showed a man suffering from a cough and feeling like he was carrying a burden on his chest from the cough, but in the ad we are shown a monstrous looking creature which the advert describes as the mucus however the man cannot see the creature but feels his weight on him which is where the tablet comes into place, the reason I talk about this is because it is similar to our sketch, where a man feels burdened by a monstrous demon but cannot physically see him yet is being tormented by him. Following on from this we made a mood board which was a brainstorm on different characters which gave us an idea on how we wanted the design of our character to look in terms of physicality. Part of our research report also included art references where we looked at demons in history for background knowledge on our characters and the location on where we wanted the character to be set.
On week 3 we start drawing storyboard and visualizing our scripting into images that we can see and layout our foundation. We discussed matter of what works well, what needs to be added and what doesn’t work well to be removed from the frame.
(storyboard! talk about the weeks within the production how and what software was used in every step add in the script of the sketch)
We then moved onto the skin texture of our character trying to come to a choice of whether we wanted him to have rough or smooth skin looking at characters such as Hellboy, Gremlins and stylistic characters within the movie monster’s University. We then came to conclusion of rough skin using the software Autodesk Mudbox
